A full day exploring a still-operating marble quarry, where you'll travel from the bottom to the top in a 4x4, with two stops along the way where your guide will explain the extraction and processing phases and how its trade has changed over the years, gi

With our experienced and qualified English-speaking driver, we'll travel to a marble quarry in Carrara, where we'll enjoy a guided tour aboard a 4x4 that will traverse the entire quarry to its spectacular summit, from which, on a clear day, you can see the Versilia sea. We'll make two stops at two smaller quarries, where the guide will explain the various stages of extraction and processing of this white gold, and especially how the miners' living and working conditions have changed over time, and how this product has now become a luxury item for millionaires. We'll then reach the small, charming village of Colonnata, world-famous for its production of lard, where we'll enjoy a tasting of this PGI cured meat. Colonnata and the marble quarries have a very strong connection, as this food product is not smoked or cured in a cellar, but rather matured in marble basins. Our tour continues down towards the Versilia coast, towards Viareggio, known for its promenade lined with shops and beach resorts. Enjoy a couple of hours of shopping, a fresh seafood meal, an aperitif overlooking the sea, or a city tour with our guide, discovering the Art Nouveau beauties of this seaside town.
