Gangi was proclaimed a Borgo dei Borghi as well as named Jewel of Italy, the only municipality in Sicily. It's easy to understand why: it presents itself with the historic center built on the top of Monte Barone, with Etna in front; it is surrounded by walls and offers a wonderful 360° panoramic view that ranges between the surrounding green valleys, the hills and the roofs of the surrounding towns: it is capable of regenerating any person given the silence that envelops it. One of the most precious pearls is the eighteenth-century Palazzo Bongiorno, which features all the rooms with frescoes and imposing chandeliers as in the past. The entire historic center is characterized by works of the highest value and, no less important, are the churches with frescoes and more: at the Mother Church it will be possible to visit the crypt of the mummified bodies of the priests of Gangi.
