With our experienced and qualified English-speaking driver, we'll reach the small medieval town of Pistoia, known for its Piazza del Duomo, home to all the palaces of power; La Sala, renowned for its fruit and vegetable market and nightlife; its narrow streets and its zebra-striped churches. This tour, in addition to offering you free time to admire the beauty of the historic center, will lead you to discover two important and well-established confectionery companies. The first stop will be at a historic confectionery, where we'll see, inside their historic workshop, how they make their sugared almonds and the renowned "birignoccoluti," an irregular spherical shape and larger in size than traditional almond confetti. This will be followed by a delicious tasting of sugared almonds and other sweets. From the square where this historic workshop is located, we'll take a pleasant stroll to Piazza della Sala, where we'll visit the second shop. Here, we'll sample the renowned "Pippo Pistoiese," a delicious shortbread cookie flavored with various flavors. In Pistoia, they're not just a sweet treat, but a symbol, a small protective amulet for children during the feast of St. Bartholomew on August 24th. Here, we'll enjoy a tasting of Pippi biscuits with coffee, gelato, or a tiramisu base. We'll also have the opportunity to participate in a workshop to create your own St. Bartholomew's crown, crafted from several Pippi biscuits intertwined with a central medallion and perforated sugared almonds.
This tour, at your option, allows for further customization by adding a guided tour with a local guide to discover the churches of the historic center, street art, the Jacopei paths, or the surgical instruments museum and the smallest anatomical laboratory in Italy.
